Overview
Walla Walla Community College is seeking a Social Media and Content Specialist to support the college’s mission of access, opportunity, and community impact. The role involves creating and managing social media content that promotes programs, highlights community partnerships, and supports enrollment and retention goals.

Responsibilities

Expand access and awareness by promoting programs, financial aid, and flexible learning options through targeted social content.

Strengthen community connection by showcasing partnerships, local impact, and student success stories.

Support enrollment and retention through strategic content that guides prospective students from interest to enrollment.

Humanize the college experience via storytelling that includes faculty features, student journeys, and classroom moments.

Ensure brand clarity and trust through consistent, accurate, and on‑brand messaging.

Amplify institutional priorities, such as new programs and workforce pathways, across appropriate channels.

Essential Functions

Develop and write brand‑aligned content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other emerging channels.

Plan, create, and schedule engaging posts, including captions and messaging.

Produce photo and video content that highlights students, programs, faculty, and campus life.

Collaborate with marketing teams and other departments to gather timely content and align with campaigns and goals.

Create performance reports, track analytics, and use data to refine content strategy.

Understanding of current social media trends and best practices.

Ability to maintain brand voice and consistency.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

Ability to engage respectfully with a diverse community.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree in marketing, communications, media, or related field; or equivalent experience.

Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, business, or brand.

Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.

Experience creating content using mobile devices and basic editing tools.

Preferred or Desired Qualifications

Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or public sector communications.

Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools such as Meta.

Basic photography and video editing skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar).

Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Conditions/Terms of Employment

Part‑time temporary position (up to 17 hours per week) located at the Walla Walla Campus.

Work may involve on‑campus duties and occasional event coverage, including travel up to approximately 100 miles.

Flexible schedule with occasional evening or event coverage as needed.

Vacation, sick leave, and personal leave benefits available on a pro‑rated basis.

Must provide documentation of lawful U.S. work authorization within three days of employment.

Subject to background check and direct deposit participation.
