Position Summary
The Graphic Designer will work with the McGoogan Health Sciences Library team to create comprehensive visual works and art displays, collaborate on exhibition installations and space designs, and support engagement with library and campus audiences, including the Wigton Heritage Center. This position contributes to statewide outreach and enhances engagement through visual communication.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the conceptualization, creative vision, development, and production of a broad range of design assets to be used in visual communications (print and digital), exhibitions, and library art that remain consistent with and advance the UNMC brand.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Graphic Art, Graphic Design, Studio Art, Interior Design, Museum Studies, or a related field. Five years of related education/experience may be considered.

Experience: Minimum 1 year in visual design. Five years of related education/experience may also be considered.

Computer applications: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.

Other computer applications: Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Final Cut Pro.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of quality and innovation in visual communication and design with excellent attention to detail.

Understanding of visual literacy concepts.

Familiarity with fabrication and installation processes.

Use of principles and practices of graphic design, balancing use of stock photography and original photographic work.

Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine colors, fonts, and layouts and attention to visual detail to create comprehensive visual communication design and production.

Problem‑solving skills, with the ability to quickly recognize, analyze, and resolve issues with minimal supervision.

High level of customer interaction throughout the design process.

Effective communication with external consultants including campus brand partners, exhibit vendors, case manufacturers, digital media consultants, and designers.

Ability to prioritize requests, manage projects, formulate budgets and timelines, institute clear workflow processes, manage internal and external partners, and enforce deadlines.

Ability to develop design, printing, or reproduction specifications.

Ability to work cross‑departmentally and collaboratively, including with collections and curatorial staff.

Commitment to collegiality and fostering a collaborative, welcoming environment.
