Health Editor

Job Description:Stefanini is looking for a rheumatology/dermatology editor to assign and edit medical news content specifically related to rheumatology and dermatology, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and relevance for a physician audience. The other half of the role would be focused on reporting and writing deep-dive features. The rheumatology/dermatology Editor will work closely with the rheumatology/dermatology team and report to the Executive Editor.This position requires knowledge of rheumatology and dermatology, solid news editing and feature writing skills, and attention to detail. This person must meet tight deadlines and collaborate with a large, fast-moving content team in a virtual environment.ResponsibilitiesAssign and edit rheumatology/dermatology articles, largely news, that appeal to a well-versed audience of rheumatologists and dermatologists and related specialtiesPitch and write features with new, fresh, and creative angles, working closely with the Editorial DirectorWork with our marketing teams to create interesting newsletters and promotional content Work with our operations teams to get content published promptlyRequirementsBachelor's degree in English, biology, or other relevant area5+ years in health content editing and writingExtensive knowledge of the rheumatology/dermatology fieldExperience assigning clearly-defined story ideas to freelancersAbility to edit stories for accuracy, balance, timeliness, and relevance Ability to write deep or investigative storiesHigh reliability and ability to take direction and run with itFlexibility and creativity to meet the needs of a growing multimedia news team in a competitive environment.Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid proofreading skillsAbility to clearly and succinctly translate medical jargon and academic speak to a lay audience.
