Job Summary
The College of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks an accomplished teacher and performer of percussion. This is a tenure‑track, full‑time faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Appointment will commence on August 13, 2026.

Who We Are
The College of Music, founded in 1920, is recognized as one of the top comprehensive music schools in the country. It offers seven degree programs in over 28 fields of study, at the bachelor’s level through the doctorate. Our community includes 550 degree‑seeking students, 70 full‑time faculty, 30 part‑time faculty, and 40 professional, technical and administrative staff, producing over 350 performances and numerous guest lectures, masterclasses, and outreach events each year.
Students pursue a range of performance degrees including BA, BM in Performance, BME, MM in Performance and in Performance/Pedagogy, DMA in Performance and Pedagogy, and Artist Diplomas. The College offers programs in Composition, Conducting, Jazz Studies, Music Education, Musicology, Performance, and Theory.
The campus is situated in a picturesque location within easy driving distance of a major metropolitan area and the Rocky Mountains.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Teach applied percussion, a weekly studio class, percussion ensemble, coach chamber music, and related courses in the percussion area; participate in regional, national, and international recruitment; maintain an active creative career; serve on graduate committees and supervise graduate theses and projects; advise students; and undertake other College and University service activities as appropriate. Oversee acquisition, maintenance, and management of all percussion equipment. Engage in collaborative relationships across departments. The final assignment of duties will be based on the needs of the department and the expertise of the candidate.

What We Require
Experience as a teacher at the collegiate level.
An established record of excellence as a national/international performing experience in Drum Set, Orchestral Percussion, Timpani, Keyboard Percussion, Chamber Music, World Music and other professional level endeavors.
An earned master’s degree in Percussion Performance or equivalent professional experience.
What We Would Like You to Have
Proven success teaching and recruiting at the collegiate level.
An earned doctorate degree is preferred.
Experience in graduate advising and job placement.
Additional expertise in one or more of the following areas: Orchestral Performance, Marching Percussion, Jazz and/or Commercial Music, Percussion Pedagogy, Music Technology, Music Entrepreneurship and/or Business.
