Overview
New York University (NYU) seeks an experienced strategic and execution-oriented Associate Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and deliver comprehensive communication and marketing strategies supporting its rapidly expanding science and technology portfolio. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff for the Executive Vice President for Global Science and Technology, this role plays a key part in strengthening NYU's reputation as a global leader in scientific research, technological innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Associate Director will be uniquely embedded within NYU Tandon's Marketing and Communications team in Brooklyn, leveraging Tandon's resources and expertise while maintaining strong collaborative relationships with NYU's central Public Relations, digital, and social media teams. The role will bridge, expand, and coordinate science and technology communications and marketing strategies across NYU schools and units, fostering collaboration and alignment across the University.

Responsibilities include developing comprehensive communication and marketing strategies, collaborating with science and technology schools, amplifying news and campaigns, leveraging digital and social media platforms, fostering internal communication, promoting high‑profile events, and managing budgets and key performance indicators.

Position Summary
Develop and deliver comprehensive communication and marketing strategies to support the University's science and technology portfolio. Collaborate with science and technology schools and initiatives to create a cohesive narrative about NYU's science and technology priorities. Elevate NYU's profile as a destination for cutting‑edge research, innovation, and talent. Collaborate with central and school‑based communications, media relations, and marketing teams to amplify news, press, and campaigns. Leverage NYU's digital and social media platforms. Organize internal communication within the science and technology community, ensuring transparency and coordination. Collaborate with event organizers to promote high‑profile science events. Manage budgets and report on KPIs.

Responsibilities

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Science, Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Education:

Master's Degree in a related field.

Required Experience:

5+ years of marketing and communications experience, including communicating complex scientific and technological topics to diverse audiences, media relations (proactive pitching and crisis communication), and a proven track record of developing and executing integrated communication and marketing strategies.

Preferred Experience:

5+ years of marketing and communications with leadership experience in a university, research institution, or science/technology‑focused organization, and experience working in a global or international context.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, proficiency in digital marketing, social media management, and content management systems, strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, complex, and highly collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Familiarity with the higher education landscape and academic research environment.

Qualifications
Salary range: USD $105,000.00 to USD $125,000.00 (annual base salary only). NYU considers various factors when extending offers.
