Job Description
Under supervision, the Senior Communications Specialist I focuses on internal communications. The position writes and assists in the production of informational and promotional materials, presentations, and special events for the Engineering Research Office (ERO).
Responsibilities
Writes and produces brochures, invitations, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, articles, speeches, reports, and news stories related to ERO activities.
Proofs, edits, and updates information on the ERO intranet and web presence.
Maintains a tracking system for project timelines and costs.
Develops and implements overall communications goals for the ERO office.
Works with the Engineering Communications team for editing and design, and disseminates news releases to media.
Assists in promoting special events and programs, generating communication strategies and promotional plans, tactics, and materials.
Prepares executive correspondence with the Engineering Communications team and prepares complex presentations and displays.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Seven years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Competencies
Ability to maintain security and integrity of critical infrastructure including communications systems, networks, cybersecurity, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment systems.
