Position Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Public Communications Specialist to support the College’s communication priorities in partnership with University Communications and Marketing. This role will lead the College’s social media initiatives, manage content creation and performance analysis, and advise on emerging platforms. Additionally, the specialist will assist the Associate Dean for Communications with internal and executive communication projects, media relations, and strategic planning across the College.

Responsibilities

Manage the College’s social media channels, planning and creating original content to ensure a cohesive message strategy.

Establish and maintain a social media calendar.

Create social media posts, including photos, videos, and graphics.

Collaborate with department colleagues and campus partners to support and amplify content.

Track and analyze social media performance, adjusting strategy as needed.

Serve as the College’s expert on social media and advise on platform evolution.

Assist the associate dean for communications on internal and executive communication initiatives, media relations planning, project management, and strategic communications planning across the College.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the assignment area; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must come from appropriately accredited institutions.

Management Preferences

Experience in a relevant, professional setting.

Ability to create photos and videos.

Experience in graphic creation.

Experience tracking social media metrics.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements

Occasional evening work.

Occasional weekend work.
