Join our team as a Design Engineer and play a key role in shaping critical water infrastructure projects. You will lead and coordinate the design and drafting of plans for capital and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and delivering high-quality solutions that support community needs.
Essential Duties
Prepare conceptual and detailed design drawings for capital and maintenance projects utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Develop water main design drawings, including easement drawings and descriptions when required.
Assist Regional Engineering in reviewing annual design workload.
Participate in project meetings with cross‑functional teams.
Plan and coordinate field investigations for design projects.
Review distribution design plans prepared by outside firms for Ohio EPA self‑certification.
Serve as office liaison with Construction Coordinators; attend construction meetings as needed.
Support routine office tasks, including record information requests and annual duties related to plans and records.
Review construction plans for commercial and industrial services including commercial fire services, backflow devices, metering equipment, and domestic services.
Provide information to outside companies and government agencies when requested to allow for accurate third‑party design drawings. Review designs for compliance with state, local, and Aqua requirements.
Contribute to additional projects and initiatives as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Pipe Networks.
Minimum two years of relevant experience, preferably designer experience in the water utility industry or related field.
Experience with Microsoft Office Products, ArcGIS, Procore, and Bluebeam.
Ability to analyze technical problems and express ideas technically.
Ability to motivate oneself and others to accomplish needed tasks.
Ability to establish meaningful, timely and attainable goals.
