Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a UI/UX Designer 1. The work will be done onsite based in Clayton, NC. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $34/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
The UI/UX Designer 1 will support the development of next-generation machine display interfaces focused on improving operator experience, safety, and usability. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional engineering and product teams to design intuitive, user-centered interfaces for construction equipment applications. The designer will create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes while participating in testing and validation activities to refine production-ready solutions. This position offers exposure to complex human-machine interaction challenges in a highly collaborative product development environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Design intuitive and user-centered interfaces for next-generation machine displays
• Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and UI concepts using Figma
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product teams to gather requirements and refine designs
• Conduct user testing and validation activities in virtual and real-world environments
• Analyze user feedback and test data to improve usability and optimize operator experience
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design, Human Factors, Psychology, Ergonomics, or a related field; Associate’s degree also acceptable
• 0–2 years of relevant UI/UX design experience
• Experience using Figma for wireframing, prototyping, simulation, and documentation
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and product design processes
• Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers and cross-functional teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience designing interfaces for heavy equipment, automotive, industrial, or off-road vehicle applications
• Knowledge of human-centered design and usability testing methodologies
• Experience gathering and incorporating operator feedback into design improvements
• Strong visual design skills with attention to detail and aesthetics
• Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and strong communication skills
