Director of Music – St. Francis de Sales Parish & School, Newark, Ohio
Full‑time position. 40‑hrs/week (Wednesday‑Sunday, schedule varies). Salary 40k‑62k based on experience and qualifications. Benefits eligible.
About the Ministry
Lead and grow the parish’s liturgical music ministry. Coordinate music for weekend Masses, holy days, sacramental celebrations, weddings, funerals, and school liturgies. Work closely with clergy, parish staff, and school leadership.
Responsibilities
- Direct the adult choir.
- Develop a parish children’s choir.
- Collaborate with the school music teacher to support school choir leadership for liturgical celebrations.
- Form and schedule cantors.
- Assist with oversight of parish sound equipment and livestream ministry volunteers.
- Support seasonal liturgical planning and maintain music resources.
- Participate in parish staff collaboration and liturgy preparation.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic committed to the mission of the Church.
- Ability to play the organ or willingness to learn.
- Bachelor’s degree in music (or equivalent experience) preferred.
- Experience with Catholic liturgy, choir direction, parish sound systems, or livestream ministry is beneficial.
