Job Summary
We are seeking a Field Service Representative to join our team in Central Iowa. In this role you will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to our clients within the water treatment industry. You will leverage your knowledge to resolve complex technical issues, ensure customer satisfaction, and contribute to the overall success of our field sales and service team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in water treatment, gain valuable hands‑on experience, and position yourself for future career growth into account management or other advanced roles within the company.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Work onsite at customer locations to provide routine, day‑to‑day service to ensure the water treatment program operates within optimal ranges and document findings in detailed reports.

Participate in delivery, installation, commissioning, and repair of systems at customer sites.

Assist with chemical feed management.

Work with Account Managers to manage and place orders, track inventory and usage of product at each site, and serve as the general face of Apex to the assigned customer base.

Maintain an organized approach to daily work, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently.

Send service reports to Account Manager within 24 hours of completion of a service visit for each site visited.

Project a professional image of the Company through a positive attitude, punctuality, and reliable attendance.

Complete initial and ongoing technical training related to boiler and cooling tower systems through AWT modules and Apex Academy resources.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge to provide sound water treatment recommendations to customers.

Keep vehicle in good operating condition and maintain recommended maintenance as needed.

Travel locally as expected and ongoing, including approximately 10% travel outside of the assigned region (which will include overnight travel).

Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

General knowledge of water treatment systems, such as filtration, disinfection, and chemical dosing, as well as cooling tower systems, steam generation, and chilled/hot/process water closed‑loop systems.

Mechanical and technical aptitude.

Ability and willingness to use a hands‑on approach to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform technical repairs, such as pump rebuilds.

Strong communication and customer‑service skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical clients and stakeholders.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to abide by Company standards for operating a motor vehicle.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability and willingness to provide service at customer facilities within a wide range of environments, including hot, loud industrial facilities and outdoor environments that may include exposure to sun, rain, wind, or other weather conditions.

Commitment to supporting customers, which may include occasional availability after standard business hours (typically via phone) for urgent needs.

Ability to pass a respirator fit test and wear a half‑or full‑face respirator.

Ability and willingness to be away from home for overnight travel – up to three (3) nights/month.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or scheduled to graduate with an Engineering degree in spring of 2026.

Prior work experience in industrial water treatment or specialty chemicals industry.
