Description
The Program Manager I is responsible for providing administrative, operational and programmatic oversight. The Program Manager I will have a thorough knowledge of institutional and program policies and procedures and may be instrumental in developing program policies. A program is ongoing and while it may have a business cycle, will continue. The program provides a specific service or carries out specific activities as a separate entity or as a component program within a department, but is not a department itself.

The Graduate Education in Public Health program at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) is seeking a dedicated Program Manager for Career Development & Alumni Relations to guide students and alumni in their professional growth and engagement. This position plays a key role in developing career pathways, employer partnerships, and alumni networks across our Master’s, PhD, and non‑degree programs in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Administration, Biostatistics, and Clinical Research.

This is a dynamic leadership opportunity to shape the next generation of public health professionals by integrating employer insights, alumni engagement, and targeted career development strategies that support institutional excellence, accreditation standards, and graduate impact in the public and private sectors.

Responsibilities

Provide personalized and group advising on career development, job search strategies, and graduate student professional growth

Build and maintain relationships with public, private, and nonprofit employers in healthcare, research, and public health sectors

Organize and lead career‑related events, including skill‑building workshops, speaker panels, and job fairs

Serve as liaison to internal offices (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Development) and manage relationships with guest presenters and consultants

Develop and execute a strategic alumni engagement plan in collaboration with the ISMMS Alumni Office to foster mentorship, philanthropy, and professional development opportunities for current students and recent graduates

Track graduate outcomes and employment data along with other key KPIs for internal reporting and accreditation purposes

Liaise with professional associations (e.g., ACHE, HLNY, CEPH) to connect students with industry resources

Support curriculum development through employer feedback and alumni insights

Collaborate with internship and applied experience staff to align placement with long‑term career goals

Develop marketing materials highlighting student success and manage a career opportunity job board

Collaborate with the broader Student & Postdoctoral Affairs team in programming and student engagement initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelors degree or greater preferred, or a combination of applicable experience and education. Master's degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred.

3+ years experience (5 preferred), managing and administrating program activities for assigned area

Preferred Qualifications

2–5 years of experience in career services, student advising, professional development, or a healthcare/public health setting. Experience working in alumni relations or employer engagement highly preferred

Strong communication skills, both one‑on‑one and group facilitation

Demonstrated experience in event planning and program coordination

Familiarity with job search tools (e.g., LinkedIn, Handshake)

Data tracking and outcomes reporting experience

A strong preference for knowledge of public health career pathways and accreditation standards (e.g., CEPH)

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $64,526.72 - $105,000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
