Status: This is a full-time; hourly position

Hours: Monday - Thursday: 7:00am - 4:00pm & Friday: 7:00am - 1:30pm

Job Summary
The Memorial Designer/Artist is responsible for the creation of portraits, graphics, illustrations and design files for production needs (both internal fabrication and purchased products), reference materials and renderings for customer approval with a high degree of accuracy regarding placement, detail, grammar or specific requests. These tasks demand artistic talent, strong understanding of design, portrait, scenic and drawing elements.

What You’ll Be Doing

Prepare drawings, illustrations and graphics for bronze and granite memorials or projects using existing designs, specific references from customers and—or creation from scratch at an advanced level.

Have an understanding of colors and shadows for photographs.

Have the ability to draw and an eye for a balanced layout.

Understanding of how to adjust photos and other files in Photoshop or similar software.

Have the ability to read and interpret rubbings, drawings, or electronic files provided by customers.

Create, revise and modify illustrations and designs for Pre‑Sales concept renderings.

Prepare or assist in the production of technical illustrations for detailed projects or products.

Ensure proper communication with internal/external customers in regards to specific graphics, proofing text, corrections, confirmation of sizes, colors and textures and receipt of approvals to meet customer requests and expectations.

Input, monitor and review data relating to processes and orders to track daily productivity and quality.

Meet with internal/external customers when applicable to ensure expectations are met.

Complete and attend required training.

Identify and eliminate potential safety hazards in area.

Support all Continuous Improvement programs and company policies.

Qualifications

Minimum of a two-year certificate/degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Illustration, Fine Arts or Design preferred. If previous requirements are not fully met, candidate must have high school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of 4 years in the field of graphic illustration or design and be able to demonstrate these skills.

1‑3 years experience in a memorial, monument or graphic design capacity preferred.

Artistic talent and/or a strong understanding of design, portrait, scenic and drawing elements are needed and expected to be demonstrated.

Advanced PC skills are essential.

Candidate should be able to exhibit an advanced understanding of file formatting, processing of files for design projects or requirements.

This position requires advanced training in graphic design software knowledge of Corel Draw, Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD and 3D modeling software. Candidate should be able to exhibit working knowledge of software listed.

Must have exposure to e‑mail, Internet search tools, MS Office applications.
