Position Summary:

The teacher will be expected to establish and foster a positive classroom environment where students are given the opportunity to develop musically, academically and socially. The teacher will also be expected to maintain compliance with district policies and initiatives as supervised by the site administrator and the director of fine arts. Positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders are expected.

Qualifications Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university

Teaching certification recognized by the State of Oklahoma

Previous experience with children or in a classroom setting is preferred

Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate stated criteria for effective teaching performance.

Coordinate transportation and facilities for all contests, activities, & fundraising with the principal, Director of Fine Arts, and head director.

Assist in maintaining the district facilities, inventory – including all music files, instruments, uniforms, classroom furniture, equipment and technology.

Build positive school-community relations by creating an environment acceptable for representation of the school district and community at-large.

Complete reports and other school‑related paperwork within stated timelines.

Accept responsibility and be punctual for activities and duties as assigned for the orchestra department grades 6‑12.

Establish and maintain cooperative relations with co‑workers.

Maintain appropriate emotional control, physical health, and personal appearance.

Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s) or above.

Language and Grammar Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.
