Duties
Exhibit Specialist (Technical Coordinator) is responsible for the full range of technical and creative skills in the design, development, production, and installation of museum exhibitions, involving projects of considerable complexity, requiring specialized techniques and the use of a variety of materials.
In This Position, You Will
Exercise technical independence in the production and development of exhibition projects, including structurally accurate casework, artifact mounts, graphics, and other exhibit elements designed to enhance the presentation of valuable museum artifacts.
Prepare and produce finished exhibit elements, working from conceptual ideas, scale layouts, detailed design drawings, or digital files.
Create and detail components using CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360, Mastercam and ZBrush.
Work closely with the production team and with project managers, designers, curators, clients, vendors, contractors and other museum personnel.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study – illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position.
Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
Experience
You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑11 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as providing coordination and technical production expertise for museum exhibitions, overseeing the full lifecycle of exhibit fabrication, scheduling, load in/out, and ensuring compliance with conservation, safety and accessibility standards.
