Position Summary
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervising the warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product to achieve service and cost objectives. The role involves planning inbound and outbound volume, customer communications, space utilization, equipment management, and people management (hiring, training, labor planning, performance appraisals, and problem resolution).

The position covers

Shift 1: 8 am – 5 pm M‑F . This role requires flexibility with time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations.

Manage operations to meet productivity and service goals, complying with client SLAs.

Drive continuous improvement and cost‑saving initiatives.

Meet client KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.

Implement fair and ethical supervision, motivation, and disciplinary processes.

Collaborate with HR on hiring, training, and development programs; participate in performance evaluation and promotion decisions.

Communicate effectively with senior management and client representatives on critical issues.

Plan daily work schedules based on orders and customer instructions; assign duties to staff.

Analyze volume demands to reorganize warehouse space and adjust resources.

Management Information Systems

Ensure all team members are properly trained on required information systems, including WMS.

Purchase and maintain appropriate computer hardware and software per corporate IT policies.

Stay informed about changes in technology and client systems.

Customer Management

Maintain high customer‑service standards across functions.

Provide necessary operational and administrative support to client accounts.

Maintain contact with all functions and respond to customer requests.

Lead or attend meetings with key customers to discuss issues.

Coordinate supplier and customer site visits.

Promote positive client relationships through excellent service.

Budgeting and Financials

Support development of the annual operating budget.

Manage controls to meet cost, revenue, and profit targets.

Ensure budgeting and pricing activities comply with contract guidelines.

Equipment and Facilities

Maintain sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and maintenance of MHE.

Train staff on MHE use.

Stay informed of new technologies and recommend improvements.

Safety

Achieve injury frequency rating (IFR) and safety metrics through a proactive safety culture.

Audit warehouse for compliance with safety, security, and quality rules.

Adhere to all federal, provincial, and statutory requirements.

Other Duties

Work overtime as required.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

7 years of logistics/distribution experience.

5 years of supervisory experience.

Ability to work in unregulated temperatures (mild to moderate).

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Demonstrated proficiency with WMS systems.

Language Skills

English (reading, writing, verbal).

Proficiency in business communication at all levels.

Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Work Environment
The work environment is generally low to moderate noise. Employees are rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.

Pay
Expected base pay range is $75,800.00 – $96,500.00 annually. Compensation will be based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
