Job Details
This part‑time, seasonal position will serve as a teaching artist in the Chautauqua Arts Education Young Playwrights Project (YPP). The program is adapted for grades 1‑5 and will be implemented in a summer camp learning environment.
Compensation
The compensation for this role is $2,500 per week, beginning July 12 and ending July 24. Travel to and from the Chautauqua Institution and travel within Chautauqua County for school visits will be reimbursed.
Responsibilities
Implement the program curriculum as directed by the Director of Arts Education and the Lead Teaching Artist, including performing scripted and improvisational work in the school assembly and leading play‑writing classes.
Under the direction of the Summer YPP Lead Teaching Artist, prepare and present the culminating performance each week.
Create props, costumes, and set designs for the Phase 3 performances with the rest of the company.
Support field‑trip activities, including art‑project making and general student interaction.
Qualifications
Experience working with youth theater programs.
Acting experience.
Formal training in theater arts.
Experience with theater improvisation.
Collaboration skills and strong team‑player mindset.
