Anchor/Producer, Streaming Television

KGET NBC/Telemundo in Bakersfield is looking for an anchor and producer for our growing Connected TV (CTV) platform. KGET airs local newscasts daily and is available at KGET.com and on all major streaming platforms through KGET+. KGET has built a strong reputation as the Central Valley’s leading news source, and we are committed to growing our local news presence.

Responsibilities

Strong news judgment, excellent communication skills, deep knowledge of the Central Valley or ability to develop it quickly, and the ability to pitch, develop, and execute compelling local content.

Collaborate with producers and reporters to deliver high‑quality, engaging programming to the Bakersfield market.

Produce and anchor a 60‑minute news show Monday through Friday on our streaming channel KGET+ (and may be simulcast on KGET).

Conceive of relevant, interesting topics, book guests, and promote the show on all platforms.

Promote the show on social media, digital distribution, and audience engagement.

Learn and use the OBS system for production; develop other CTV shows or segments; provide fill‑in anchoring on other KGET platforms; mentor colleagues; emcee public events; and perform other duties as directed by the news director.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Fluency in English.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to ad lib.

Minimum two years’ experience in news reporting (depending on market size).

Superior on‑air presence.

Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Flexibility to work any shift.

Pay range: Starting at $20–$23 per hour, depending on experience.
