Job Description
The Assistant Director will assist in the creative and administrative tasks associated with the university marching band and vision of the Director of Bands.

Responsibilities

Assist the Director of Bands with planning, rehearsals, and directing the band.

Control the storage and use of school-owned equipment and materials; make minor adjustments and request repairs to instruments as required.

Keep the Director of Bands informed about the latest equipment and music.

Travel with the band and work weekends.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree

One year of related experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and teaching of instrumental music

Demonstrated organizational ability and interpersonal relationship skills

Must be able to demonstrate expertise in knowledge and teaching of instrumental music

Other Requirements

Position requires moderate physical activity related to instructing and directing bands

Position requires working non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in music or music education

One year of experience teaching music or working with bands and/or orchestras to develop musical arrangements

Must be able to work collaboratively with others

Knowledge in writing musical arrangements

Ability to coordinate and direct rehearsals
