Director of SEO


Overview


We are seeking a Director of SEO who is energized by the structure and accountability of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). This strategic leadership role is responsible for developing and executing SEO strategies that drive organic growth, increase search visibility, and deliver meaningful business results. As a key member of the marketing leadership team, you will lead and develop a team of SEO professionals, collaborate cross‑functionally to align SEO with company Rocks and Scorecard metrics, and ensure that our search strategy is always evolving with user behavior and search engine algorithms. You’ll work hand‑in‑hand with content creators, developers, and client teams to implement SEO best practices across platforms, while also maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders through transparent reporting and results‑driven communication. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping others grow, relentlessly seeks better solutions, and competes to win—while always leading with empathy, humility, and integrity. This Director level position is within the St. Louis headquarters, with hybrid work options available after 90 days.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field

  • 6+ years of SEO experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or management role

  • Strong expertise in tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, and other SEO platforms

  • Experience aligning SEO efforts with broader marketing and business strategies

  • Strong cross‑functional communication and collaboration skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships with transparency and empathy


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master’s degree in Digital Marketing, Communications, or Business

  • Experience in a digital agency or client‑facing environment

  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems

  • Certifications in SEO or digital marketing (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot)

  • Proven success in leading large‑scale SEO initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes


Responsibilities



  • Own and execute the SEO vision in alignment with company goals, EOS Rocks, and quarterly priorities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the SEO team by fostering a culture of care, continuous learning, and accountability

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with content, web, analytics, and client success teams to integrate SEO into every digital touchpoint

  • Leverage SEO tools and analytics platforms to identify opportunities, run experiments, and measure performance tied to clear KPIs and Scorecard metrics

  • Maintain a high level of curiosity, staying current with trends in search behavior, algorithm changes, and emerging technologies

  • Provide transparent, actionable reporting to clients and internal stakeholders—ensuring alignment, building trust, and celebrating wins

  • Support cross‑departmental alignment during Level 10 Meetings and contribute to solving issues collaboratively through the EOS IDS (Identify, Discuss, Solve) process

  • Model and promote a competitive spirit—setting high standards, driving results, and continually raising the bar for search excellence


Day in the Life


A day in the life of a Director of SEO leading a team of four SEO strategists is a blend of strategy, leadership, and problem‑solving, all grounded in the company’s core values of caring, competitiveness, and curiosity. The day begins with reviewing performance metrics, identifying opportunities for growth, and preparing for the team’s weekly Level‑10 meeting within the EOS framework to align on goals, address issues, and prioritize key initiatives. Throughout the day, the Director collaborates with the team to refine SEO strategies, analyze data, and develop innovative approaches that keep clients ahead of competitors and goal driven. As Director, you’ll take time to coach and support each strategist, fostering both personal and professional growth through curiosity‑driven learning and a caring leadership style. You will play a critical role in maintaining the agency’s reputation as a digital industry leader. Whether brainstorming new content strategies, troubleshooting technical SEO challenges, or reporting wins to leadership, the Director maintains a competitive drive to deliver exceptional results while nurturing a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement. The importance of leading, managing, and helping the team embrace accountability is a reoccurring behavior practiced by all senior team members. The Senior Leadership team is available to assist in growing not only the Director, but also each team member.

Salary Range: $105k – $120k.
