About the Department
The Books Division of the University of Chicago Press has been publishing books for scholars, students, and general readers since 1892. Its mission is to disseminate scholarship of the highest standard, promote education, foster public understanding, and enrich cultural life. The Press’s acquisitions editors acquire and develop books that fulfill this mission, working closely with authors, agents, and institutions.
Job Summary
The Promotions Coordinator plans and implements promotional and publicity campaigns for a portfolio of client presses.
Responsibilities
Writes and edits marketing copy.
Reviews advertisements, copy, and marketing materials.
Researches media and creates review lists and conducts necessary media outreach.
Serves as marketing liaison with client publishers and with other departments at the Press and responds to regular inquiries from clients related to promotions and events.
Creates and schedules social media posts on behalf of client presses.
Performs one or more of the following marketing functions: marketing communications /advertising; Web blogs or digital marketing; market research; development or review and update of the marketing infrastructure and management of external sales agency relationships.
Assists in developing marketing communications, advertising, or publicity materials with a moderate to high level of guidance from others.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Minimum requirement is a college or university degree in a related field.
