Position Summary
The Event Recording Technical Intern provides a seamless digital preservation of live chapels for the Asbury Theological Seminary community. They ensure that the chapel is live streamed as well as properly recorded for various disseminations, in a timely manner, using creative problem solving and knowledge of the Chapel’s various video recording systems. This position supports both the Helpdesk as well as the Office of the Chapel in the overall production of chapels at Asbury Theological Seminary.
Essential Functions
Ensure Smooth Video Stream Experience and Proper Recording of Chapels
Operate in-chapel video recording equipment for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday chapels (as well as special services).
Edit and upload recorded chapels to cloud storage solution.
Handle relevant hardware for recording and editing.
Steward Video Recording Equipment in Chapel
Equipment includes: Switcher, Pan/Tilt Cameras, Microphones, Capture Equipment, CG software or machine, streaming equipment.
Manage a running list of video recording equipment needs and/or malfunctions and report them to the Event Technology Specialist.
Monitor hard drive space on the capture computer, ensuring sufficient space for future and last‑minute events.
Handle Chapel Accessibility Needs
After the chapel files have been uploaded, generate transcripts and/or captions of the service using the workflow approved by the Event Technology Specialist.
Tools & Equipment
Pan/Tilt/Zoom Cameras with switcher, CG Generator, Audio Board, Video/Audio Streaming Software, Computer for capture and cloud upload.
Qualifications
Due to the nature of this work, this position requires that no class be taken during 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday during the Fall and Spring semesters.
In alignment with the theological‑formational nature of our community, we seek an intern who has demonstrated commitment to the study and practice of Christian worship.
Comfortable operating pan/tilt cameras and switching between them in live production environments (previous video production experience desirable, but not necessary).
Basic understanding of video conversion formats needed for streaming and cloud storage.
Ability and willingness to troubleshoot challenges related to Estes Chapel’s video recording system.
Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in handling challenges and non‑routine situations.
