As the Director of Sales & Marketing, you will oversee commercial strategies for the hotel and connect strategy with business processes to improve asset performance. Hilton’s Commercial Services organization includes sales, revenue, marketing, catering and events, call centers, and analytics, forming Hilton’s commercial engine for profitable growth.
Overview
What will I be doing? The primary responsibilities are to design, develop, and deploy business strategies that are creative, dynamic, and impactful for the Americas and to lead the Hotel Sales and Marketing process. Lead the movement toward a predictive and prescriptive approach by developing and communicating commercial strategies and standards, and analyzing revenue performance against established goals. Facilitate delivery of the Americas Commercial Operating Model and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and networking skills.
Responsibilities
- Produce the hotel’s Annual Multi-Year Commercial Strategy Plan, in partnership with on-property leaders and regional support
- Connect hotel performance needs with solutions designed by the Hilton enterprise, in each key segment served
- Set the strategy and deliver revenues for the hotel, including group rooms, banquets, catering, business transient, and leisure transient
- Collaborate with Commercial Leadership to ensure Business Review Guidelines (current to +5 years) and Group Pricing & Rate Quotation Strategies maximize all pricing components of sales and catering opportunities and grow positive group market share
- Support hotel B2B marketing, digital marketing, social media, public relations, and communications; guide e-Commerce teams to ensure accurate and effective online content
- Establish optimal business mix, review and validate revenue forecasts, and develop strategies for different demand periods; review and approve retail and group pricing strategies
- Work with Executive Committee members to maximize profits in line with GOP and EBITDA targets
- Develop and manage departmental expense budgets and forecasts
- Maintain detailed and real-time knowledge of competitor and market activity
- Execute the Sales and Catering annual SIP (Sales Incentive Program)
Leadership
- Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly Sales & Marketing Optimization Process for the hotel; translate optimization outcomes into actionable strategies
- Contribute to annual Commercial Cadence communications on performance and drivers (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual)
- Ensure adherence to Hilton brand standards and corporate identity; utilize all communication tools
- Recruitment and retention of all sales and marketing roles
- Lead, engage, and develop team members with ongoing performance development and career plans
- Conduct performance reviews for direct reports and provide feedback for dotted-line reports, including: Group Sales, Business Transient Sales, Leisure Sales, Catering Sales, Marketing
- Foster a culture aligned with Hilton’s DEI and ESG enterprise goals
Ownership, Customer, and Stakeholder Relations
- Own performance and commercial activity reporting for each hotel (performance status communication and response plans)
- Present commercial strategies to key business partners and ownership groups in collaboration with AVPs, Regional Commercial Director, and General Managers; ensure transparency and timeliness in communicating targets and gaps
- Liaise with Hilton Worldwide Sales, regional support, and brand teams
- Build strong relationships with CVB, community influencers, and 3rd party travel partners
- Engage customers across all sales segments
- Support high-impact site visits and pre-convention meetings
- Support sales managers’ travel into feeder markets
What are we looking for?
Minimum qualifications
- Hotel Sales, Catering or Marketing experience
- Leadership management experience
- Ability to travel
- Experience in hotel management or related industry
- Highly professional presentations and communication skills (oral and written)
- Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office
- Ability to perform critical analysis

- Four-year college degree preferred
