Position Summary
The Marketing Manager plays a vital role in enhancing the visibility of the DANK Haus and its diverse services and programming. This role is responsible for designing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies, managing digital and print communications, overseeing the website, and managing merchandise inventory. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who thrives in a team environment and can collaborate effectively across various departments, including education, museum collections, development, programming, and venue rentals. The manager will maintain collaborative relationships with key partner organizations in the German and Chicago community, represent the mission through storytelling, and use data to drive engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and implement all aspects of marketing for a small nonprofit. Align marketing materials across channels and preserve the DANK Haus brand.

Create written content and visuals for the website, marketing emails, campaigns, print brochures, donor emails, fundraising materials, press releases, and community outreach.

Develop email campaigns, segment audience lists, import contacts, and analyze open and click‑through rates.

Update and maintain website written content in collaboration with departments, and develop a strategy for refreshing content, improving navigation, and increasing traffic and SEO.

Assist with the development of communications including the language school newsletter, the annual report, fundraising communiques, and gala materials.

Promote events, services, programs, and community opportunities through print materials such as flyers, posters, and invites.

Develop and implement a social media strategy across all channels and platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Monitor, evaluate, and utilize data to determine strategy, identify trends, and recommend new ways to promote the brand and mission.

Support the design of sponsorship packets, proposals, and reports for foundations and corporate sponsors.

Identify, select, promote, and manage the inventory of promotional merchandise.

Attend and support execution of major events, which may entail weekend or evening hours.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in marketing or digital strategy.

Passionate about developing relationships, both in person and digitally, and mission‑driven.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Advanced knowledge of Google Suite, Canva, CapCut, Loomly, Constant Contact, Wild Apricot, or another website builder.

Demonstrated ability to create and edit promotional videos.

Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.

Impeccable attention to detail, independent and collaborative work ethic, and ability to manage multiple tasks and present solution‑oriented ideas.

Minimum of a Bachelor of Arts degree (or equivalent).

German language skills (written and/or spoken) are a plus.

Salary
$30,000 - $44,000; salary to be discussed, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
