Job Description
CDM Smith is on the lookout for a dynamic and talented writer to enhance our North Group marketing team. This position is perfect for an individual who is proactive and enjoys collaborating with technical experts and marketers to craft clear, compelling narratives for proposals and presentations. Your mission will be to translate complex concepts into engaging client-focused stories that showcase the value, creativity, and innovation of our solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of producing polished, RFP-compliant writing that resonates with clients and sets CDM Smith apart in a competitive market.

Key responsibilities include

Leading and supporting marketing and business development strategies for pursuits across the North Group.

Developing, writing, editing, and finalizing clear and compelling content for proposals, presentations, resumes, and other marketing materials tailored for municipal water and environmental clients.

Driving proposal messaging through strategic thinking, theme development, brainstorming, and storyboarding.

Maintaining and updating firmwide databases for resumes, project descriptions, proposals, and qualifications to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Contributing to enhancements in broader marketing practices by participating in firmwide task forces and initiatives.

Continuously improving marketing, business development, facilitation, and writing skills through training and professional involvement.

This position is open to candidates across several states with preferred locations including Boston, Chicago, Edison NJ, New York City, and Philadelphia.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

6 years of relevant experience.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required, depending on duties and specific responsibilities.

Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

B.A. or B.S. in Communications, English, Marketing, Journalism or a related field.

Previous experience in an architectural, engineering, construction, or other technical firm.

Proficiency in MS Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Copilot, and SharePoint applications; advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Experience in editing/proofreading technical narratives.

Practical experience in facilitating group strategy and proposal development.

Able to work under tight deadlines where precision is key.

Familiarity with business development/marketing process models (such as Dag Knudsen, Miller-Heiman, Shipley).

Skills and Abilities

Strong command of grammar and spelling.

Ability to organize, negotiate, and manage proposal schedules.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Capability to effectively coordinate projects with team members nationwide.

Pay Range

Minimum: $78,478

Maximum: $129,459

Additional Information
All bonuses are discretionary. The position may offer fully remote or hybrid work options. Applicants in Massachusetts should be aware of state laws regarding lie detector tests.
