The Marion Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Director to lead tourism and marketing efforts for Marion County.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both strategy and hands‑on execution—developing campaigns, building partnerships, and telling the story of the Marion community in a way that drives visitation and local pride.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute marketing and advertising campaigns
- Develop the annual Visitor Guide
- Build partnerships with local businesses and community organizations
- Manage staff, daily operations, budgeting, and financial processes
- Serve as a public-facing representative for Marion’s tourism efforts
- Collaborate with a Board of Directors on strategy and reporting
Qualifications
- Experience in marketing, communications, tourism, or a related field
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Experience with digital marketing tools (social media, email, design platforms)
Preferred
- Tourism, economic development, or nonprofit experience (BA preferred)
- Experience working with a board or community stakeholders
Details
- Full-time position requiring a valid driver’s license and ability to lift 35 lbs.
- Some evening/weekend and travel commitments required
- Salary commensurate with experience
