This position will serve as the ultimate authority and university expert in all decisions related to and in accordance with the sports performance, health, and injury resilience of 15 NCAA Division II athletic sport teams totaling over 450+ student‑athletes. The Director of Sport Performance must follow the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), and all University and Minnesota State regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Health, or related field plus 2 years of experience working with college football, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s track and field, wrestling, golf, swim & dive, baseball, and adaptive sports.
  • Certified in CSCS or working toward CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through NSCA) or SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification through CSCC).
  • Certified in CPR or the ability to obtain certification upon employment.
  • Knowledge and skills in the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs.
  • Written and verbal communication skills applicable to a wide range of audiences.
  • Knowledge in all areas of the sports medicine/sports performance umbrella including physiology, biomechanics, anatomy, nutrition, strength and conditioning, physical preparation, injury rehabilitation, drug testing, concussion, recovery, ADD/ADHD, and sickle cell.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field.
  • 5 years’ experience working college football, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s track and field, wrestling, golf, swim & dive, baseball, and adaptive sports.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve program effectiveness (performance outcomes, efficiency, athlete availability).
  • Ability to translate complex sport science concepts into practical training methods.
