Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor MEP/FP engineering staff, overseeing design projects and interdisciplinary coordination
- Perform and oversee engineering design, evaluations, studies, construction cost estimating, and QA/QC reviews in accordance with company standards
- Manage project budgets, staff utilization, and overall financial performance of the MEP/FP practice
- Support project invoicing and client accounts receivable activities
- Actively participate in professional organizations and represent GPI at marketing and business development meetings and events
- Develop short‑ and long‑term strategic plans, prepare annual operating budgets, and share accountability for performance against established goals
- Drive results by contributing to revenue growth, profitability targets, and broader company objectives
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding client business models and delivering tailored, value‑driven solutions
- Provide strategic guidance to executive leadership and collaborate with other GPI regional offices to share knowledge, tools, and resources, and identify cross‑selling opportunities
- Partner with the Director of Business Development to support sales efforts, including proposals, contract negotiations, project closing, and ongoing client relationship management
- Establish organizational goals and long‑range forecasts in collaboration with Marketing and Business Development
- Foster a highly engaged and collaborative work environment; recruit, develop, and retain top technical and project management talent
- Identify high‑potential team members and establish career development and advancement pathways
- Ensure clear, consistent communication with staff regarding expectations, performance, operational practices, and enterprise priorities
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with an active New York PE license
- Minimum of 15 years of industry experience , including demonstrated success in engineering design and project management
- Strong technical knowledge across Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) systems
- Experience in one or more of the following markets strongly preferred: Commercial Development, Multifamily, Life Sciences, Education, Healthcare, Data Centers, and Corporate Facilities
- Advanced technical expertise combined with strong business, financial, and strategic acumen
- Proven ability to develop and sustain trusted client relationships and collaborate effectively at all organizational levels
- Extensive experience building and leading high‑performing teams, with a track record of positive employee engagement and retention
- Strong organizational and talent‑assessment skills, including the ability to identify staffing needs and recruit high‑caliber professionals
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong project management capabilities, and the ability to adapt and manage competing priorities
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM preferred
