Goppion Museum Workshop, Inc. serves as the United States subsidiary of Goppion S.p.A., a global leader in museum-quality conservation display case solutions. With offices in Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C., our US team supports major cultural institutions nationwide, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, the Getty Museum, and other leading museums, as well as select private collections.

The U.S. organization manages a diverse portfolio of approximately 10–15 active museum and exhibition projects at any given time, ranging in scale and complexity, and continues to expand its scope of exhibit fabrication services across the US.

Position Summary

The Site Manager oversees all on-site project activities to ensure work is completed in accordance with contract requirements, technical specifications, and safety regulations. This role serves as the primary on-site contact for the client, coordinates with U.S. and Milan Project Managers, manages installation logistics and daily reporting, and ensures compliance with OSHA and all site safety standards. The position also supports local procurement and reviews project drawings and construction documents to plan work effectively, resolve issues, and ensure successful project execution.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the contract specifications of the projects site requirements through the study of the contractual and technical documents (e.g. Scope of Work, technical specifications, etc.).
  • Coordinate with the US and Milan Project Manager to implement the project details in accordance with the methodologies established by the contract.
  • Serve as primary site point of contact for the client and their team.
  • Maintain a presence at the project site during all hours when a Goppion team is working.
  • Attend internal and client meetings as required to prepare and execute the project.
  • Coordinate the effective and efficient organization and management of on site installations by organizing logistics, access, material deliveries, etc.
  • Ensure that all site safety regulations are followed by all Goppion employees and subcontractors, including not limited to, safety training and certifications, daily safety standups, PPE use, height restraints, equipment inspections, electrical lockouts, OSHA compliance, and injury reporting.
  • Maintain and distribute a daily report of site activities, personnel present, snags, potential problems, etc.
  • Assist with the local procurement and budget of US sourced components and services.
  • Review Shop Drawings, building plans and IFC documents to be able to plan site activities and solve problems.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in site coordination, construction supervision, or project management for architectural, exhibition, millwork, or specialty fabrication projects.
  • Proven experience managing on-site installation activities and coordinating multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Experience serving as the primary on-site liaison with clients, architects, general contractors and consultants.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret contracts, technical specifications, shop drawings, construction documents, and Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating project logistics, including site access, material deliveries, equipment scheduling, and workforce planning.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices, with experience conducting daily safety meetings and enforcing compliance among employees and subcontractors.
  • Experience preparing daily site reports and maintaining accurate records of manpower, progress, issues, and corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with procurement and budget tracking for locally sourced materials and services.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced site environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to review drawings in PDF and CAD-based formats.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States and remain on project sites for extended periods as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on museum, cultural institution, exhibition, or other high-end architectural projects requiring exceptional attention to detail and finish quality.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
  • Background in architectural millwork, metal fabrication, glazing systems, or specialty construction.
  • Familiarity with international project teams and coordination across multiple time zones.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
