The DAI (Data, Analytics & Insights) organization drives strategic and operational decisions for the company. This highly visible team applies data, analytics, and research to support strategic initiatives and day‑to‑day operational support company‑wide.

Director of Audience & Engagement Analytics

As the Director of Audience & Engagement Analytics, you’ll report to the Vice President of Data, Analytics & Insights and collaborate closely with newsroom, product, engineering, advertising, and finance departments on projects that have a critical and strategic impact on all aspects of the company. You will support the priorities of The Post’s Audience and Engagement missions and provide data‑informed analytics, insights, and recommendations to drive business decisions.

How You’ll Support the Mission

The Skills and Experience You Bring

  • Partner with cross‑function leads (audience, product, design, engineering) across multiple teams to establish strategic roadmaps and OKRs.
  • Optimize revenue from audience and products using audience strategies, customer segmentation, and engagement tactics to increase engagement, revenue, and profitability.
  • Understand customer behavior and preferences, collaborating with stakeholders on insights to create targeted campaigns and personalized product offerings.
  • Contribute as a key collaborator and thought leader for various initiatives and projects to meet organization goals.
  • Manage and communicate the analytics roadmap and deliverables.
  • Lead, hire, onboard, and develop talent, careers, and culture of analytics within the larger analytics organization.
  • Ensure the quality and direction of the analytics team’s work; oversee team deliverables and represent the team at the executive level.
  • Collaborate with other Data & Analytics teams on projects that span multiple missions and seek partnership opportunities across teams.
  • Oversee designs and analysis of experiments to improve growth KPIs for digital subscribers.
  • Educate and improve internal processes to promote innovation and best practices within the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in audience/content/customer/product analytics; 3+ years managing analytics professionals.
  • Deep expertise in audience analytics, content measurement, and product analytics—ideally within a media, subscription, or digital product environment.
  • People leadership experience directing team members in building analytics solutions, data products, reporting, experimentation, and acquisition and retention modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in experiment design, measurement, analysis, and modeling.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, media research tools (e.g., Comscore, Nielsen), and custom dashboards.
  • Experience measuring effectiveness of marketing channels (e.g., search, social, email).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work seamlessly with multiple stakeholders including executives.

Core Competencies

  • Strong competency in leadership, managing execution, building relationships, generating talent and organizational capability.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and drive high‑impact outcomes.
  • Knowledge of privacy‑compliant data practices and evolving trends in audience targeting and measurement.
  • Experience with SQL, Python and Big Data tools.
  • Experience with Tableau and web analytics systems like Google Analytics is preferred.

Salary range: $144,600 - $241,100 Annual.
