About the Role

Grade Level: 10. You will be an integral part of the S&P Global Ratings Public Relations Team managing media relations strategy for the Americas, reporting to the Head of Public Relations for Ratings. This position requires a dynamic individual who can act independently with senior support and will quickly learn the role. The focus is on external communications in the Americas, with opportunities to expand into global support across regions, particularly EMEA.
Responsibilities

Collaborate with team members and internal stakeholders to develop and execute public relations strategy aligned with S&P Global Ratings’ goals and S&P Global’s enterprise communications objectives.
Work with spokespeople to proactively secure earned media placement, including op‑eds, feature placements, and broadcast opportunities.
Build relationships with local and regional reporters through proactive outreach.
Show creativity and innovation in engaging with media, determining the best channel for messaging, and developing new communication channels as needed.
Communicate respectfully and thoughtfully with stakeholders and handle challenges without hesitation.
Assist colleagues with crisis communications to protect the division’s reputation, drafting messaging and providing media training.
Collaborate with team colleagues to collate intelligence on media share of voice and other metrics.
Work within a matrix environment, pitch in for other team members, and collaborate across multiple time zones and tight deadlines, demonstrating flexibility and efficiency.
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range (U.S. candidates only): $70,817 - $129,993.5 USD. Final base salary is based on geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.

Qualifications

Proactive team player capable of working independently; ability to work on a hybrid office basis.
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Finance, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
4+ years of internship or professional experience in a communications team within a financial or corporate environment, with a solid understanding of capital markets, financial markets, credit markets, or regulated business.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong relationship‑building and digital literacy abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Experience translating complex concepts into actionable, understandable plans and materials.
Strong relationships with top‑tier media.
Experience managing multiple stakeholders, building relationships and networks, and working collaboratively.
Project management skills.
Knowledge of basic CMS and social media platforms.
