You will be an integral part of the S&P Global Ratings Public Relations Team managing media relations strategy for the Americas, reporting to the Head of Public Relations for Ratings. This position requires a dynamic individual and someone who, with senior support, will quickly be able to act independently. While the focus will be on external communications in the Americas region, there will be an opportunity to expand your skills and involvement working across the global Ratings team, including public relations counterparts across regions particularly with EMEA. We are seeking an excellent writer, storyteller and news connoisseur who can build strong relationships with media, operate in a fast-paced environment and act as a trusted communications partner.
The Impact
The successful candidate will play a vital role in the Ratings Public Relations team and assist in executing our external communication strategies to grow, and protect, the reputation of S&P Global Ratings with media and other influencers.
You will also be a part of a wider global team where you will flex and provide support where needed. And you’ll have the opportunity to work with other divisions and the enterprise Public Relations team.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with fellow team members and internal stakeholders to develop and execute our public relations strategy that aligns with S&P Global Ratings’ goals and objectives, and with S&P Global’s enterprise communications goals.
Work with our spokespeople to proactively seek earned media placement including op-eds, feature placement and broadcast opportunities.
Build relationships with local and regional reporters through proactive outreach.
Show general creativity and innovativeness in engaging with media including determining the best channel to use for any kind of messaging – keen eye on developing new channels as needed.
Communicate with a range of stakeholders in a respectful and thoughtful manner, and don’t shy away from challenges.
Assist team colleagues with crisis communications aimed at protecting the division’s reputation, including drafting messaging and media training.
Partner with team colleagues to collate intelligence on media share of voice and other metrics.
Be comfortable working within a matrix environment and be willing to pitch in and provide support when needed for other team members.
Work within a team across multiple time zones and, sometimes, under tight deadlines.
Follow directions, elevate challenges and produce finished projects that meet or exceed expectations.
Compensation
Anticipated base salary range: $70,817 - $129,993 USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
This role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

Qualifications
Basic Required Qualifications
A proactive team player that can work well independently.
Ability to work in office on a hybrid basis.
Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Communications, Journalism, English, Finance or related fields; or equivalent relevant experience.
4+ years of internship or professional work experience in a communications team in a financial or corporate environment. Capital markets / financial markets / credit markets / regulated business preferred, but essential to have an understanding of the global financial markets.
Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and strong relationship-building skills.
Detail-oriented and highly proficient in digital literacy.
Understanding of Microsoft Office suite is a must.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience in translating complex concepts to actionable, understandable plans and materials.
Strong relationships with top tier media is important.
Experience in managing multiple stakeholders, building strong relationships and networks and working collaboratively. Project management skills helpful.
Knowledge of basic CMS and social media is a plus.
