Summary:
The Video Monitor Technicianis responsible forcontinuous observation ofassignedpatientsthrougha videomonitoringsystem,ensuring the safety of patients who cannot bedirectlyobservedin person.

Responsibilities:

• Observes patients over a video monitoring systemas directed by nursing staff.Maintains visual observation at all timeswithout distraction.Tracks and ensures continuity ofmonitoring.

• Maintainsrosterof patients under monitoring and their observation criteria.Alerts nursing staffof patient safety concerns, significant observations, or any noted examples of thedocumentedobservation criteria/ behaviors.

• Performs hand-off of patientmonitoringasappropriate duringshift change and breaks.Participates ina collaborativeidentification and reporting of patient safety issues.

• Observes andreportspatient information obtained during visual monitoring.Documentspatient activityand/or contact.Answersphonesandnotifies staff of patient requests.

• Maintains inventory of andtracks issued equipment.

• Demonstratesproficiencyin the use of Video Monitoring Software. Seeks help as soon as possible whenpatient appears to posea threat to themselves or others.

• Respects and provides patient confidentiality. Seeks guidance as needed.

• Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected andvalidatedby the position's orientation. Use standard precautions and principles of infection control.

Qualifications

Required

• High School diploma or equivalentrequired.

Preferred

• Previousexperience in a health care settingpreferred
