Purpose of the Position:

The Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications is responsible for gathering and providing information to the public on specific and assigned men's and women's intercollegiate athletics programs, and assists with public relations activities within intercollegiate athletics, and serves as a liaison between intercollegiate athletics and the media. The Incumbent will develop and maintain an effective presence with web and new media associated with the UAH Athletics department. This position is responsible for all marketing related to sponsorships and corporate sales. The position assists in the overall management of marketing and promotion for UAH athletics.
Responsibilities

Supervises the management of the internal administrative functions and daily operations of the Athletics Communications Office, monitoring the completion of assigned activity responsibilities and evaluating progress toward achievement of established goals and objectives. Assists in the development of departmental policies and the administration of office functions.
Ensures that information about the University's intercollegiate athletics programs is available to the public in a timely and effective manner. Assists in the planning, development, and execution of a comprehensive program of sports coverage which focuses on both competitive and non-competitive activities and includes information on student‑athletes and teams in the University's intercollegiate athletics program.
Ensures that major special events for student‑athletes, major conference and national event participation by University teams, and other special events reflect positively on the University by conducting research of records to identify and verify the accomplishments of teams and individuals, writing scripts for speeches or public announcements, and providing background material which lends historical significance and perspective to the accomplishments of current events.
Responsible for handling computer statistics for UAH sporting events and completing official statistics for soccer, volleyball, hockey, basketball, baseball, and softball using the automated scorebook computer programs.
Oversees statistics and records for all UAH varsity sports and manages all Conference and National weekly reports to ensure accurate records of athletic events and compliance with NCAA and Conference rules.
Assists in the development and distribution of various publications for men's and women's sports programs. Oversees the setup and tear down of equipment for sports events and serves as a game manager for home athletic events.
Supervises, assigns, and directs the work of students, volunteers, and contract personnel, monitors the completion of assigned activity responsibilities, and evaluates progress toward achievement of established goals and objectives.
Completes post‑game reports and distributes them to appropriate personnel, including opponents and media.
Abides by and complies with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Conference rules, academic standards, requirements, and policies of the University, and all guidelines and policies of the Athletics department. Reports any concerns of compromise or violation of rules, standards, guidelines or policies to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics or the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance.
Kept abreast of trends, maintains knowledge, competency, and professional currency through self‑directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, becoming knowledgeable of and abiding by all University, Athletics Department, GSC, and NCAA guidelines, rules, and regulations.
Develops, implements, and manages marketing and promotions in support of the athletics department.
Evaluates program activities and submits progress reports for individual and corporate sales.
Identifies and researches potential major corporate buyers and organizational buyers.
Analyzes strategies with particular emphasis on sports offering greatest potential to generate revenue not related to fundraising.
Manages all advertisement of athletics in print, press, web, and media; designs and publishes brochures for sponsorship buys.
Prepares conference reports for GSC and CHA, as well as NCAA, AVCA, NFCA, to include preseason, weekly, and postseason reports (Players of the Week, All‑Conference, All‑American, Special Honors, etc.).
Organizes and maintains files for record keeping.
Responds to email and mail requests for information.
Coordinates game staff, stat crews, announcers, and music.
Perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Sports Information, Sports Management, Media Relations, or Broadcasting, 3-5 years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Must have experience managing websites
Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
Previous supervisory experience is required
Desired Qualifications

Masters degree preferred
Experience in athletic administration is preferred
