The successful candidate will teach applied trumpet, coach chamber ensembles, and contribute to the department's growth in curriculum and community engagement.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeach a 3.3 course load in studio trumpet and other brass‑related courses.Maintain a clear research agenda, including publications, presentations, professional performances, and potential external funding.Direct the MSU Trumpet Consort and coach student chamber ensembles.Assume secondary teaching responsibilities based on departmental needs and candidate expertise.Participate in university, college, and department committees, service, and recruiting activities.Perform with faculty chamber ensembles.Minimum QualificationsDoctorate in music or a related field, completed by the time of appointment.Appropriate performance experience on trumpet.Successful experience teaching studio trumpet.Preferred QualificationsCollaborative work in diverse academic and community settings.Experience recruiting and maintaining a thriving trumpet studio.Alignment of academic and professional characteristics with the missions of the university, college, and department.Professional performance experience.University teaching experience.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesTeaching trumpet with a collaborative approach to chamber music coaching and a robust research agenda.Working Conditions and Physical EffortNo unusual physical requirements.
