Production Planning Supervisor

Position Summary
The Senior Production Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all production planning, scheduling, and inventory control activities within a seafood processing environment. This role ensures efficient utilization of raw fish supply, maintains product freshness and quality, and aligns production with customer demand while minimizing waste and operational costs.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Lead and manage the production planning team for daily, weekly, and long-term scheduling
Develop production plans based on demand forecasts, raw material availability, and capacity constraints
Coordinate closely with Procurement to align fresh fish supply with production needs
Ensure proper handling of perishable inventory, minimizing spoilage and maximizing yield
Monitor and adjust production schedules in real time due to supply variability (e.g., catch volumes, seasonality)
Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with food safety regulations (FDA, HACCP, USDA where applicable)
Optimize inventory levels for fresh, frozen, and processed seafood products
Analyze production performance, KPIs, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Work cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, Logistics, and Warehousing teams
Lead ERP/MRP planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) for production and inventory management
Drive cost reduction strategies while maintaining product quality and service levels
Manage workforce planning in coordination with production supervisors
Prepare reports on production efficiency, waste, and fulfillment performance
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field (master's preferred)
7+ years of production planning experience, preferably in seafood, food processing, or perishable goods
3+ years in a leadership or managerial role
Strong knowledge of perishable inventory management and cold chain logistics
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
Understanding of HACCP, FDA, and food safety standards
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
