Description:
We are currently hiring a Graphic Art Processor for an office-based position within the Art Department in Union, IL. This position is responsible for providing professional customer service, reviewing emailed artwork, offering technical art guidance, and creating virtual mock-ups in a fast-paced production environment.
The Graphic Art Processor will work closely with customers, sales representatives, upper management, and internal departments to prepare artwork for production while maintaining each customer’s brand identity. This role is ideal for a creative and detail-oriented candidate with graphic design experience, strong technical art skills, and the ability to manage multiple requests while meeting deadlines.
This position is best suited for someone with a more experienced and creative design background; however, the company is open to training the right person. The role also offers potential career growth within the Art Department and other areas of the company, depending on individual skills, performance, and qualifications.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide professional customer service for emailed artwork and other customer requests.
- Create virtual specs, mock-ups, and creative art designs for customers, sales representatives, and management.
- Download, review, and check customer art files for issues, incorrect applications, or unacceptable artwork.
- Look up orders in SAP and organize emails into the proper folders for processing.
- Save emails and artwork in the correct archive and art server locations.
- Digitally draw, recreate, retouch, resize, color-manage, layout, design, and prepare typography as needed.
- Process art files for print production using the company’s print processes.
- Assist with special art requests and internal projects as needed.
- Support sales support with artwork needed for customers or internal projects.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, coworkers, vendors, and internal staff.
- Work with team members to identify problems and develop solutions.
- Prioritize requests from department managers when needed.
- Assist the Art Inquiry Manager in handling art inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Download and forward quote requests, sample requests, inquiries, and related communications to the appropriate departments.
- Assist coworkers and other departments when needed, including production, warehouse, inspection, sales, sample department, or other special projects.
- Complete new or ongoing training programs as required.
- Inform management of any suggested revisions to company or departmental policies and procedures.
- Work overtime when requested by management.
- Maintain quality, accuracy, professionalism, and strong customer service in all work performed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of at least two years of college-level coursework in production graphic arts, design and layout, desktop publishing, or a closely related field preferred.
- Graphic design, print production, or related art processing experience preferred.
- Creative design experience preferred.
- Mid-level experience with Adobe Creative Cloud graphic programs required.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro preferred.
- Experience with drawing, tracing, design, layout, typography, and color management.
- Strong understanding of print production, including CMYK, PMS, spot color, digital, and RGB color processes.
- Ability to prepare artwork for CMYK and spot color output.
- Familiarity with Mac and PC environments and various electronic graphic art file formats.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to use email programs, font management programs, and the internet to retrieve and transmit graphic files.
- Strong artistic, creative, and design skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and balance customer, company, and departmental needs.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
