LERMA/ is seeking a freelance Brand Strategy Director to lead strategy development and briefs for a project on a key client account. The right candidate will have 7+ years of agency experience in brand strategy/account planning/brand planning. This role will report to the Executive Brand Strategy Director.
NOTE: The right candidate will have an interest in focusing on faith‑based/faith‑informed work (specifically, work related to the person of Jesus).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct brand strategy for a defined, significant project within a larger client assignment.
Translate business goals, audience understanding, cultural context, and client inputs into a clear strategic direction.
Develop an insightful creative strategy and write a strong, inspiring brief that sets up breakthrough work.
Conduct and synthesize relevant research, trends, audience insight, and cultural context to inform the assignment.
Collaborate with strategists, brand leadership, creative, media, social, data/intelligence, and subject matter experts in the development and implementation of strategies.
Provide senior‑level strategic counsel and feedback through key work sessions, reviews, and client milestones through to campaign launch.
Ensure the project’s strategic output is on‑brief, on‑brand, and aligned to the broader account and business objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
7+ years of agency experience in brand strategy/brand planning/account planning.
Highly organized and self‑directed, able to work efficiently in a project‑based engagement.
Collaborative and low‑ego, able to plug into an existing team and add value quickly.
A kind person, unafraid of having a divergent point of view (on the work or the world).
A hunger to learn about and experience life from someone else’s perspective (e.g., culture, heritage, geography, etc.).
Able to display a history of winning, insightful strategy development.
Strong research and synthesis skills, turning audience/cultural signals into actionable insight.
Excellent presentation skills and the ability to tell a great story.
Command of the analytical skills needed to anchor strategy on data.
Professional, reliable, detailed, and clear in all internal and external communications.
Represent oneself and agency professionally in all internal and external communications.
ENGAGEMENT DETAILS
Part‑time freelance role.
Project‑based assignment on a key client account.
Dallas‑based or remote — available for agreed‑upon in‑person meetings if needed.
Duration, hours, and working cadence to be defined based on project scope.
Competitive freelance rate based on experience.
