Art Studio Supervisor

Art Studio Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the reception desk, supporting the guest experience while guiding and mentoring studio staff. This leadership role maintains the high standards of hospitality, organization, and artistry that define the Sundance brand. The Supervisor acts as a liaison between guests, artists, and internal departments, ensuring smooth studio operations and a welcoming, inspiring environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Warmly welcome all guests and guide them through their Art Studio experience, whether browsing, shopping, or attending a class
Lead and supervise daily operations of the studio including guest services, cleanliness, and front-end staff coordination
Train, support, and mentor studio receptionists and seasonal staff
Provide excellent service by responding to guest needs and resolving concerns calmly and professionally
Maintain a thorough understanding of the studio's offerings, services, and retail products
Operate the POS system, run and close registers, handle guest purchases, and ensure accurate payment
Package and ship various artworks (glass, pottery, etc.) with care and attention to sustainable practices
Maintain inventory systems, support monthly audits, and restock supplies as needed
Answer phones, manage email correspondence, and maintain scheduling systems
Contribute to studio display, seasonal decor, and event support when needed
Uphold and model the Sundance story of land preservation, environmental stewardship, and creative expression
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Guide and support front-line studio staff during shifts
Provide feedback and assist with training new team members
Maintain open communication with management and suggest operational improvements
Act as a back-up for the Art Studio Manager as needed
Required Qualifications:
Previous experience in customer service or hospitality, ideally in an artistic or retail environment
Strong communication and leadership skills
Detail-oriented and highly organized
Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities
Comfortable using computer systems, including scheduling, POS, and email
Appreciation for the arts and creative learning experiences
Preferred Experience:
Background in visual arts, art education, or studio operations
Prior experience in a team leader or supervisory role
Familiarity with art materials and studio practices (ceramics, painting, etc.)
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
