Salon Business Consultant
Overview
Salon Business Consultant is a sales solution specialist role covering and growing a territory in and around Southfield, Farmington Hills, Troy, Clarkston, Lake Orion, Oxford, Rochester Hills, Detroit Corridor, Michigan (MI).
Ideal candidate would reside in or very near the following cities: Southfield MI, Detroit MI Corridor.

Essential Functions
Salon/Beauty Industry experience highly preferred.
Primary Duties
Grow the Business:
Identify key accounts within territory and establish an efficient route to grow and develop existing customers while seeking new partnerships.
Demonstrate and assist customers in developing, planning, implementing, monitoring and tracking results of all in‑salon promotions, programs and concepts.
Determine customers’ needs and offer products and services to meet those needs.
Communicate sales initiatives through partnering with vendors, including achieving corporate sales goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Respond to all email, text, and phone communication in a timely manner (within 24 hours).
Analyze accounts to decide what brand support, education, and promotions are needed to grow within the salon.
Call on customers in person to execute established sales goals.
Strictly comply with procedures regarding the processing of returns, including pickup and completing required documents.
Work with all business areas: customer service, accounts receivable, IT, and other functions.
Actively prospect for new customers through cold calling, social media, and other digital outlets.
Manage all administrative aspects of the role, including daily order entry and regular maintenance of customer information in salesforce.com.
Attract and retain salon clientele by utilizing social media for communication, promotion, education, and product knowledge.
Conduct effective in‑person and virtual product knowledge classes.
Communicate with Manager regarding sales progress, follow‑up plans, and needed assistance.
Grow Team and Culture:
Be a subject matter expert in digital platforms & social media; share knowledge with peers.
Attend all meetings, functions, and events; maintain regular contact as established by the Company.
Be available to attend shows, participate in setup/dismantling of displays, booths, handle back stock, and perform other required physical activities.
Support new initiatives with a growth mindset and foster positive change management.
Grow Yourself:
Exhibit a desire to learn and grow; pursue continuous improvement, own personal development, and enhance digital & social media techniques.
Schedule and attend business development days (BDD) to increase product knowledge and develop vendor relationships.
Allocate and optimize time to participate in learning utilizing available tools and resources.
Remain agile to market changes while building industry knowledge and intuition for competitive response.
Actively increase own product, industry, and market knowledge.
Create an organized work environment and workflow to efficiently service customers.
Experience and Skills Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of outside sales experience or beauty industry experience with consultative selling.
Must live within the assigned territory.
Working knowledge of inventory control systems and visual merchandising preferred.
Excellent knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and other social media platforms to build pipelines and business needs.
Excellent computer skills with salesforce.com, Outlook, PDF Expert, Oracle; experience with iPad is a plus.
Ability to build an online community and create social connections.
Position requires local travel within the territory, attendance at shows, conventions, educational events that may include overnight travel and/or some weekend nights.
Ability to work in a safe manner and maintain constant state of alertness.
Frequent and prolonged periods of driving necessary.
Committed to scheduled hours with flexibility for additional hours as needed.
Strong time management and organization; ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to present a professional business image and interact positively with the public.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Sitting, driving, standing, walking, bending, twisting neck, bending waist, climbing, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, reaching with hands and arms, lifting up to 25 lbs.
