Position Overview
Title: Multilingual/Multicultural Program Manager
Location: Natividad Pagan International Newcomers Academy, Cleveland, OH
Reports To: Executive Director, Multilingual and Multicultural
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Band: $68,891.00 – $93,003.00
Responsibilities
Assists the Executive Director in coordinating the development and selection of multilingual multicultural curriculum resources and supplemental materials
Provides classroom support to teachers in core subjects and English as a Second Language
Assists the Executive Director in organizing and providing professional development opportunities for District staff based on current research on ESL best practices, assessments, and strategies for ELL’s and modeling of effective instruction to build capacity and support schools with delivery of classroom instruction appropriate for second language learners
Leads conversations and processes that engage principals and teachers to use all available data, including ELL student achievement data, ESL curriculum, lesson plans, ESL and second‑language learning teaching strategies, and other benchmark data that affect ELL student achievement in order to define the joint work of the school
Holds daily coaching sessions with school staff
Identifies specific principal, teacher and student needs and assists in the development of customized curriculum and teacher professional development to build capacity and a culture of collaborative support
Assists school staff in all academic aspects and documents and progresses monitor coaching sessions
Is active and visible in schools to provide support
Assists schools and District initiatives in providing quality ESL and Bilingual instructional services
Ensures compliance with District, state and federal mandates for the education of English Language Learners
Interprets program services and state and federal guidelines and procedures for the education of English Language Learners to staff, parents and community
Conducts and models effective instruction for teachers and paraprofessionals to build capacity and support schools with delivery of classroom instruction appropriate for second language learners
Uses relevant, research‑based ESL instructional practices to analyze and make data‑driven decisions and recommend areas for discussion in the service of identifying areas for improvement
Reviews and analyzes assessment data, instructional and programmatic services to make appropriate decisions relative to students' needs
Interprets program and procedures guidelines to school staff and the state’s criteria for entrance, exit, and reclassification data
Must be bilingual and biliterate in a language other than English
Performs additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Multilingual Multicultural Education
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred (TESOL and/or Bilingual Multicultural endorsement or degree from any state or US territory)
At least 5 years of experience as an ESL Teacher, Bilingual/TESOL Teacher, Language Teacher, or Administrator
Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment
Ability to produce, analyze, interpret and summarize data
Ability to interpret policy and procedures
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Strong commitment to students in CMSD and personal accountability for the district’s transformation
Deep knowledge of inequity issues and passion for CMSD’s mission
Understanding of roles and responsibilities of teachers of English Language Learners
Ability to provide objective feedback on special education programming, compliance and implementation
Familiarity with Charlotte Danielson’s framework of professional practice
Knowledge of laws relevant to English Language Learners
Proven experience working collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment
Results‑driven with excellent planning and organizing skills
Exceptional communication and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience leveraging staff and developing talent
Successful in overcoming significant barriers to meet goals in a fast‑paced and changeable environment
Ability to perform multifaceted tasks with minimum supervision
Regular travel to schools required; reliable transportation needed
Working Conditions
Regular travel to schools required; reliable transportation necessary
Typical duties involve standing, walking, and sitting in a school environment, and occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds
Requirement to frequently talk and hear in a busy environment
Expected to use hands and arms, and to have close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
