Responsibilities
Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for DLA Training in the areas of Section 508 compliance, copyright law and regulations, and the Plain Writing Act of 2010.
Performs editorial reviews on all documents and deliverables for spelling, grammar, and consistency.
Determines and verifies that all content is tagged and that tagged elements are properly sequenced and applied.
Reviews document layout, design, structure, formatting, tables, and charts, including PDFs, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint files and multimedia products.
Develops, prepares, and conducts workshops and training sessions for enterprise‑wide personnel in the creation of presentations, updating content, copyright law, alternative text, color contrast, and Section 508 compliance.

Qualifications
To qualify for an Editor (508 Compliance), applicants must demonstrate paid or unpaid experience that directly relates to the duties of this position. Experience includes volunteer work through National Service programs such as the Peace Corps or AmeriCorps and other professional, philanthropic, or community organizations.
One year of specialized experience at the GS‑11 level or equivalent, including time‑in‑grade or time‑after‑competitive appointment, and any other regulatory requirements by the closing date.
Advanced editorial evaluation of training deliverables, applying expert knowledge of grammar, structure, and content analysis.
Design and deliver enterprise‑wide workshops on Section 508, copyright, alternative text, and content development.
Create standardized templates to improve instructional material quality and efficiency.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Drug‑Free Workplace Policy
All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre‑employment, reasonable‑suspicion, post‑accident, and random drug testing. Employees in drug‑testing designated positions are subject to random drug testing. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee’s inability to successfully pass or refusal to undergo the test may result in the withdrawal of the tentative offer or removal from federal service.
