Supervisor of Special Apps

Within DCWP, the Licensing Division is the central operational hub responsible for ensuring that businesses across New York City meet the legal requirements to operate fairly, safely, and in compliance with local law. Through licensing more than 45,000 businesses in over 45 industries, the Division ensures fair competition and a level playing field for responsible small businesses that are integral to New York City's vibrant communities. The General Vending Unit is seeking an experienced and organized Special Applications Supervisor to lead Application Review section of unit. This position is responsible for overseeing application review, payment verification, waitlist administration, records management, and related licensing functions to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent processing of General Vending transactions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervise staff responsible for reviewing and processing applications, renewals, amendments, waitlist transactions, and supporting documentation
Monitor application processing activities to ensure compliance with licensing requirements, agency policies, and established procedures
Review complex applications, resolve processing issues, and provide guidance on eligibility and documentation requirements
Monitor processing timelines, workloads, and staff productivity to ensure efficient operations
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of General Vending waitlists, licensing records, and related data
Establish and maintain quality control standards for application review and processing activities
Respond to escalated applicant inquiries, complaints, and operational issues
Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency, consistency, and customer service
Prepare reports, track performance metrics, and identify operational trends requiring management attention
Coordinate with other Licensing units and support implementation of General Vending initiatives
