Under general direction, performs professional and administrative tasks related to the operation of the Circulation department, including planning, implementing, directing, and evaluating library services.
Supervises student workers at the Information Hub. Performs a variety of circulation and clerical procedures, assists students, faculty, and community members in using library services and facilities, and provides friendly, high quality customer service.
Performs the job in a library setting with some hectic or demanding situations. The job involves working a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, which may change periodically. The position involves frequent interruptions with maximum flexibility required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees all activities of the circulation and reference services.
- Hires circulation staff in consultation with the librarians, business manager, and Dean.
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of the student workers.
- Provides training and training opportunities for student workers.
- Develops and proposes relevant policies and procedures in conjunction with the librarians and Dean.
- Evaluates circulation workflow and processes.
- Works with the IT Librarian to troubleshoot patron account issues.
- Interacts with library patrons and staff regarding library materials.
- Trains and assists patrons in the use of library equipment and technology.
- Schedules student workers to staff the Information Hub while the library is open.
- Coordinates with the IT Librarian to work and manage student projects.
- Coordinates with the Academic Engagement and User Experience Librarian to manage events.
- Participates in activities such as staff meetings, admin, and training.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or four years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience training and supervising library staff.
- Knowledge of integrated library systems.
- High level of interpersonal skills and integrity.
- High level of customer service skills.
COMPENSATION
Compensation will be negotiable based upon education and experience.
