Lead the planning, design, and technical development of healthcare projects with a focus on outpatient medical facilities, ambulatory care centers, medical office buildings, and specialty healthcare environments. This role serves as a senior design and development leader responsible for managing complex projects, consultant teams, client relationships, and technical coordination throughout the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead coordination with healthcare providers, physician groups, and operational stakeholders to develop efficient clinical layouts and patient‑centered environments
- Direct space programming, workflow analysis, departmental planning, and interior planning for outpatient healthcare facilities
- Manage and coordinate external architects, engineers, interior designers, consultants, and contractors throughout all project phases
- Oversee design standards, technical quality, drawing coordination, and compliance with applicable healthcare codes and regulatory requirements
- Lead review and management of design deliverables, construction documents, specifications, and consultant coordination to maintain project quality, schedule, and budget objectives
- Participate in project budgeting, value engineering, constructability reviews, and development planning to align design intent with financial goals
- Collaborate closely with leasing, property management, and development teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead client meetings, user‑group meetings, project presentations, construction meetings, and on‑site project walk‑throughs
- Assist in negotiation and coordination of development agreements, tenant work letters, and construction‑related documentation
- Oversee entitlement, permitting, and agency coordination efforts with municipalities and healthcare regulatory agencies
- Mentor junior staff and support internal process improvement initiatives related to healthcare project delivery and design standards
- Maintain expertise in emerging healthcare trends, operational models, building systems, and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (required)
- Professional licensure or registration
- Minimum 5‑8 years of experience in healthcare architecture, healthcare real estate development, or healthcare construction/project management
- Experience in New Jersey (required)
- Strong knowledge of outpatient healthcare design, medical planning principles, healthcare building codes, ADA requirements, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated experience managing complex healthcare projects and consultant teams
- Strong leadership, client management, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced development environment
- Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and project management platforms preferred
