A leading national developer of healthcare facilities is seeking a Director or Vice President of Design & Development to support the continued growth of its platform in the northeast. The firm has an established and highly regarded presence across the U.S. healthcare real estate market, delivering a range of ground‑up, expansion, and renovation projects for a strong base of repeat institutional clients. With a robust and expanding pipeline, the business is looking to add a senior professional who can operate at the intersection of design, development, and delivery
This role offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping projects from early ideation through execution, working alongside a highly experienced leadership team and contributing to long‑term platform growth
Role Overview The Director / VP will take ownership of projects across the full development lifecycle, including site evaluation, concept design, entitlement strategy, and coordination through delivery. The position requires a combination of design leadership, commercial awareness, and development execution capability. This is a highly visible role, engaging directly with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure projects meet both clinical requirements and development objective
Key Responsibilities Lead design and development of healthcare real estate projects from concept through delivery.
Oversee site evaluation, feasibility analysis, and early-stage planning.
Manage the design process, working closely with architects, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
Ensure alignment between design intent, budget, schedule, and operational requirements.
Collaborate with development, construction, and capital teams to drive project outcomes.
Engage directly with healthcare clients and end users to translate requirements into deliverable solutions.
Support the sourcing and origination of new opportunities where appropriate.
Candidate Profile Strong architectural background, ideally trained and developed within a recognized design practice. Licensed NJ architects would be ideal.
Prior experience working for a developer, owner/operator, or integrated platform.
Demonstrated experience across the full development lifecycle, from sourcing and ideation through delivery.
Track record delivering projects in the $30M–$250M+ range.
Experience within healthcare, life sciences, or complex institutional asset classes preferred.
Commercially minded with the ability to balance design quality and financial outcomes.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and clients.
Location & Compensation Based in New Jersey, with flexibility for candidates located in New York or Pennsylvania.
Base salary in the range of $185,000 – $225,000, plus bonus and comprehensive benefits.
