What You Will Do
- Provide corporate oversight and guidance on EH&S policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Lead the implementation of global EH&S programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Coordinate and monitor Company EH&S programs in line with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain extensive contacts with key managers, regulators, and other organizations to negotiate and persuade on critical issues.
- Conduct periodic audits, surveys, and visits, using governance systems to keep management informed of risks and liabilities.
- Focus on prevention and actively participate in setting the agenda for EH&S, including the development and revision of regulations affecting Company operations.
- Recommend facilities, staffing, and funds needed to carry out EH&S programs that support organizational objectives.
- Recognize and champion EH&S specialization within the organization.
- Select EH&S programs that further the organization’s objectives.
- Conceive and plan investigations into areas lacking precedents but critical to the EH&S function.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to associates and other leaders, providing scientific interpretation and advice.
- Direct multiple subordinate supervisors or team leaders.
- Ensure the successful operation of EH&S activities, setting realistic budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
- Provide periodic reports and conduct briefings and technical meetings for senior management.
- Prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
What We Expect Of You
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence and advocate within a global, matrixed organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams in a multi‑plant, multi‑site cGMP‑regulated commercial manufacturing environment.
- Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local EH&S regulatory requirements and industry trends.
- Financial and project management abilities to allocate resources effectively.
- Ability to communicate technical and administrative topics to all organizational levels, including executive leadership.
- Lean‑Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience; or
- Master’s degree and 8 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience; or
- Doctorate degree and 4 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience.
And 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leading teams, projects, and programs, or directing the allocation of resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Educational background in Environmental Science, Applied Science in Occupational Safety, Life Sciences, or Engineering.
- 5+ years of successful EH&S leadership experience directly managing EH&S staff.
- 10+ years of individual contributor experience in EHS (Safety focus).
- Demonstrated success in communicating complex topics to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership, influencing, and administrative skills, including financial and project management.
