We are seeking two talented Design Directors to join our established dress company in New York City — one specializing in Missy Daytime Dresses and the other in Missy Modern Updated Social Dresses.
Role Overview
The Design Director will be responsible for leading and executing designs from sketch to completion, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and ensuring brand consistency. You will conduct market research and stay up‑to‑date with design trends and best practices, and collaborate with the Owner, President of Sales/Merchandising, and Production Team. All design implementation and execution are done on the premises with drapers, sewers, cutters, and pattern makers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts is a plus
- Proven experience as a Design Director or a similar role in dresses, with a focus on daytime or modern updated social/eveningwear
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite/Illustrator
- Understanding of visual design principles and layout techniques, draping and execution
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- CAD/Illustrator proficiency
- Experience in the fashion industry is a must with at least five years of experience
Compensation
Salary: $100,000 – $180,000, depending on level of experience.
