Samaritans Purse is seeking a Marketing and Media Relations Associate to join our Operation Christmas Child Department. This position can be based at our headquarters in Boone, NC or at our Charlotte, NC Ministry Center. In this role, you will support the traditional media and social media teams during the peak‑of‑season promotional cycle for Operation Christmas Child. Your responsibilities will include communicating with prospective media outlets on coverage opportunities and providing correspondence across all national social media channels. Responsibilities

Maintain consistent communication with media outlets and secure traditional media pitching to generate coverage for Operation Christmas Child across digital, print, television, and radio outlets nationwide.

Secure and coordinate media interviews for speakers, volunteers, and staff, including scheduling details, key resources, messaging points, and strategic support.

Develop, monitor, and provide media coverage reports; assist with end‑of‑year data requests as needed.

Provide social media monitoring and correspondence across all national social channels (Facebook, Instagram, and X), including engagement with comments, direct messages, and group pages, while following Samaritan's Purse communication guidelines.

Serve in a Processing Center for a minimum of one week during the November/December shoebox processing season, which may require temporary relocation.

Allocate 1–2% of time in contact with Samaritans Purse beneficiaries (children, young adults, adults at risk) for promotional and safeguarding purposes.

Qualifications

Two years of college or technical school in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field with 3–6 months professional experience; or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Fluency in English.

Experience in media relations, public relations, or related communications field.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
