You will learn by observing and working with WKRG's Studio Production and Content Creation Teams.

You will gain experience producing live and pre‑recorded programs and segments for broadcast, OTT, website, apps, and social media.

Particular focus will be on mastering the Ross Overdrive automated production system and Open Broadcast System (OBS) live‑streaming technology.

You will enhance visual communication skills by designing and creating graphics.

You'll strengthen editing skills by cutting video with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Enjoy Gulf Coast beaches, attractions, and activities when you’re not working.

The internship can strengthen your candidacy for full‑time positions after graduation.

Qualifications for Fall 2026 Media Production Internships

Internships are

highly selective .

All internships are

in‑person

at WKRG’s main broadcast & digital studios in Mobile, Alabama.

Each internship is

supervised ; a station supervisor will oversee attendance and performance.

All internships are

unpaid .

Students earning academic credit will receive priority consideration for positions in the cohort.

The intern’s college/university academic advisor determines the credit available and the weekly time commitment.

The station intern supervisor will consider each intern’s availability to set an enriching work schedule.

The intern is responsible for personal transportation.

Application Process
Submit an application via the Nexstar Careers portal no later than 5 pm CST, Thursday, September 3, 2026. If selected, you will receive an invitation for an interview and may be asked to provide a resume, a brief note of interest, and available times for a video conference.

Application period opens: Monday, June 22, 2026.

Invitation to interview: after application review.

Selection is on a first‑come, first‑served basis; slots may fill before the closing date.

Internship start: Monday, August 10, 2026 (or later if approved).

Internship end: Friday, December 18, 2026.

Orientation session: August 2026 (date TBA).

Required Prior Knowledge

Video Production basics: cameras, audio, switchers, graphics, etc.

Video Editing basics: proficiency with timeline‑based software such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.

Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing assignments.
